FAQ

Here are some of the frequently asked questions that I get on recipes and via email.

Who takes the photos of the food on your blog?

I do! I take all of the my own photos in a room in our house that we converted into an office for me. Unless noted, all photos I share on social media and on my blog are taken by me.

What kind of camera do you use?

While I'll say that it doesn't matter what camera equipment you have, it's how you use it. My photography arsenal (right now) includes:

  • Canon 5D Mark II (similar)
  • 50mm 1.2f lens (same)
  • 24-70mm lens (same)
  • 35mm lens (same)
  • this light kit (I usually shoot with natural light but when needed I use this kit)
  • Adobe LightRoom & Adobe Photoshop Elements

I also use my iPhone 6S Plus a lot too.

When I travel, I like to use this camera.

Can you give me blogging advice or help me with my thesis on social media or blogging?

I will try to answer as many emails on this subject as I can but sometimes I'm really busy cooking in the kitchen or taking photos that I can't answer every email. So please don't get your feelings hurt if I don't answer your email. I would like to direct you to a post I wrote on blogging though.

Do you blog full-time?

Yes, I do. I feel very fortunate that running this site and taking food photos is what I do for a living. I was working as a software engineer when I started this blog in Dec. 2009. In 2012, I was laid off from my job and with the encouragement and support of family and friends, I decided to try to run my own business full-time.

Do I need to add water to your whole chicken in a slow cooker recipe?

I get this question all the time…for one of my favorite recipes. And the answer is no, you don't need to add water to the slow cooker.

What is half and half?

Half and half is something they sell in the US in the dairy section which is actually half milk and half cream. In the UK it’s called half cream.

You list unbleached all-purpose flour in your recipes. Can I use bleached all-purpose flour?

Yes, definitely! I list unbleached because that's what I prefer to use.

Can I guest post for you?

No, I do not accept guest posts on The Little Kitchen.

Do you work with brands?

Yes, I do. All the time, feel free to contact me ([email protected]) or see this page on how to work with me.

Just a note, that I take great care to only work with brands that I love to remain completely authentic and to build upon the trust that visitors to my website and followers on my social media accounts have come to expect.

I work for an ad network and would love to have you join our ad network.

I currently am exclusive to Mediavine. If you would like to advertise on The Little Kitchen, please contact them.
