Camembert Marmalade Phyllo Cups with Thyme from thelittlekitchen.net

Looking for a nice, savory treat for your Halloween party? This is super simple to make thanks to Athens Foods Mini Fillo/Phyllo Cups (found in your grocer's freezer case)…I know you'll love these!

When Athens Foods approached me about making an appetizer for a Halloween party with their mini phyllo cups, I wasn't sure what I was going to do. On my way home from a trip to Italy recently, I had really really good food on my flight. I know, crazy right? One of things served with my meal was a wedge of camembert cheese. It was so good. I remembered how much I really like brie cheese. Camembert and brie are pretty much the same, it's just where it's made in France. Either way, I like it with the bloomy rind, it gives it a nice flavor but some people like to remove it before eating.

These appetizers are super easy and fast to put together and I know you'll love them!

This is what the box of mini fillo shells or cups looks like. My grocery store had them for $1.99…that's a steal!

Put them on a lined baking sheet and preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. The shells need to sit at room temperature for a few minutes before using them. They are fully cooked already so it's quick and easy to put together a nice appetizer for your party.

I cut up the camembert cheese and like I mentioned before, depending on your preference, you can remove the rind before cutting it up.

Add the cheese and orange marmalade to each cup.

Top each one with fresh thyme leaves and pop them in the oven for 5 to 6 minutes.

It was all I could do to resist these little cheesy orangey goodies. Once I was done shooting, I gobbled them all up. So my advice if you make these for your Halloween party, make a couple of batches! The orange goes nicely with the flavorful camembert and the thyme…it goes perfect with the citrus flavor. I love thyme with citrus!

Camembert Marmalade Phyllo Cups with Thyme Recipe

Servings 15 Appetizers

Ingredients

  • Athens Foods Mini Fillo Shells 15 count
  • 4 ounces camembert or brie cheese cut into small pieces/cubes
  • orange maramalade
  • fresh thyme

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper. Remove Athens Mini Fillo Shells from the freezer and the box and place them on the baking sheet for about 10 minutes (while prepping other ingredients).
  • Cut up cheese. Remove thyme leaves from the stalks. Add about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of marmalade to each phyllo/fillo shell and top with 2 to 3 pieces of cheese. Top all shells with thyme leaves. Bake for 5 to 6 minutes and serve immediately.

Notes

Note:

I love eating camembert and brie cheeses with the rind on. It really depends on your taste so if you don't like the strong taste of the rind, be sure to remove it before cutting up the cheese into small pieces.

The cheese and marmalade sound so good together, and I love that it’s packaged in its own little serving bowl.
